Templates help you prepare reusable documents for electronic signing.
They are designed to be reused across teams and workflows—saving time and ensuring consistency.
Templates are ideal for agreements, consent forms, onboarding documents, and other frequently used files.

What are Templates?

Templates allow you to:
  • Upload or create documents once
  • Define recipient roles
  • Add and assign fillable fields
  • Reuse the same document structure anytime

Create a Template

You can create an template in multiple ways:
  • Upload files from your device (PDF, Word, JPG, PNG)
  • Scan with phone
  • Create New from scratch
  • Create with AI to generate documents faster
  • Select from Template Gallery

Define Recipient Roles

Instead of adding specific people, templates use roles. For example:
  • Admin
  • HR
  • Patient
  • Manager
Roles allow the same template to be reused with different recipients each time. You can:
  • Add multiple roles
  • Rename roles
  • Remove roles if no longer needed

Design the Template

Once roles are defined, you can prepare the template using the editor.

Add Fillable Fields

Add and assign fields to specific roles, including:
  • Signature
  • Initial
  • Name
  • Email
  • Company
  • Date
  • Text
  • Dropdown
  • Checkbox
  • Radio button
  • Upload
  • Stamp
You can switch between roles to ensure each role has the correct fields.

Use Content Blocks

Enhance templates using content blocks:
  • Text
  • Image
  • Video
  • Table
These blocks help structure the document and add clarity before signing.
Templates follow the same setup and field behavior as standard e-sign documents.
For a detailed walkthrough, see E-Sign Documents.

Manage Templates

From the Templates list, you can:
  • Use Template to start a new signing request
  • Edit existing templates
  • View roles, pages, and usage history
  • Track when templates were last updated
Templates can be organized into folders for better management.

When to Use Templates vs Documents

  • Use Templates when the document structure stays the same
  • Use Documents for one-off or ad-hoc signing needs
Templates help reduce errors and speed up repeat workflows.
