Number porting

Keep your existing fax number or get a brand-new one when you start using Amplify. This ensures uninterrupted fax communication with your customers, partners, and vendors.

Overview

Amplify allows you to:
  • Port (transfer) an existing fax number from another provider, or
  • Purchase a new fax number instantly during setup.
Porting is optional — you can start using Amplify with a new number right away if you prefer.
Do not cancel your existing fax service until the porting process is fully completed. Canceling early may result in permanent loss of your number.

Port existing number

Porting lets you move your current fax number from another carrier or fax provider into Amplify, so you can continue using the same number without disruption.

What you’ll need

To submit a porting request, make sure you have:
  • The fax number you want to transfer
  • Your current provider’s name
  • A recent billing statement or invoice
  • Correct account holder information (must match your provider’s records).
    Account holder information includes:
    • Company Name:
    • Account Number:
    • Billing Address:
    • Authorized Person’s Name:
    • Port-out PIN

How porting works

1

Submit a port request

Start a porting request from your Amplify account or by contacting support. You’ll be asked to provide your fax number and carrier details.
2

Sign authorization

Complete and sign a Letter of Authorization (LOA), allowing Amplify to request the transfer on your behalf.
3

Carrier review

Your current provider reviews the request and confirms eligibility. If information doesn’t match, they may reject the request.
4

Number transfer

Once approved, your fax number is transferred to Amplify. You’ll be notified when the process is complete.

Porting timelines

  • Most fax numbers transfer within 5–10 business days
  • Some carriers may take longer depending on location and number type
  • There is typically no downtime if your existing service remains active during the process
Porting timelines are controlled by the losing carrier and cannot usually be expedited.

Supported numbers

Amplify supports porting for:
  • Local fax numbers
  • Toll-free fax numbers (availability may vary by region)
International porting availability depends on the originating carrier and country.

Purchase a new number

If you don’t need to keep an existing fax number, you can purchase a new one instantly.

How it works

  • Choose a country and area code during setup
  • A fax number is assigned to your account immediately
  • Start sending and receiving faxes right away

Why choose a new number

A new number is ideal if you:
  • Are setting up faxing for the first time
  • Want a dedicated number for a new department or business
  • Need faster setup without waiting for porting approval
You can always port an existing number later if needed.
